Katherine Noel Brosnahan, with her then-boyfriend Andy Spade, together introduced Kate Spade handbags in 1993. After working at Mademoiselle magazine for several years as an accessories editor, she realized that the market lacked stylish and practical handbags. She began designing her own and since then, has received many prestigious awards. The company has grown to offer shoes, eyewear, stationery, fragrance, and home accessories; among others.
